POSITION OVERVIEW
-
The Senior Compositor is responsible for integrating foreground, mid-ground and background scenes to extend a set, scene, environment or effect and incorporates characters or digital objects into scenes.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Composes scenes and sequences to meet art and story direction.
-
Utilizes artistic and technical skills to create seamless integration of CG elements.
-
Able to composite multiple types of shots from simple to difficult.
-
Accountable for meeting productivity and quota targets.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
At least 3+ years of progressively complex related experience.
-
Excellent artistic skills.
-
Advanced knowledge of Nuke, and either Shake, Digital Fusion, Flint, Flame, Inferno and/or After Effects.
-
Knowledge of either XSI, Houdini and/or Maya.
-
Strong system administration skills, and a moderate level understanding of working in a Linux environment.
-
Demonstrable ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas.
-
Understanding of CG lighting and rendering techniques.
-
Strong understanding of color correction, blue & green screen, roto, mattes and tracking technologies.
-
Degree/diploma in film editing or equivalent experience in animation, film or digital effects.

Modeler Job Description
Location: Vancouver, BC
Summary:
The Modeler will produce photorealistic models from scratch and see them through the modeling pipeline from start to finish.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Create photorealistic models from scratch that meet all technical and aesthetic standards for the project.
-
Complete tasks within production deadlines while being largely self-directed.
-
Be able to provide guidance and mentorship to other modelers.
-
Work closely with the texture artists to ensure all models work smoothly within the texture pipeline as well as the modeling pipeline.
-
Work closely with the riggers in the case of character models to ensure models work smoothly within the rigging pipeline as well as the modeling pipeline.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
-
2+ years of experience creating high resolution, photorealistic models for feature films in Maya.
-
Experience with Character, Hardsurface vehicles or props and/or Environments modeling.
-
Experience working from 2D reference as well as cyberscan and motion capture data.
-
Zbrush and Mudbox experience is preferred. Cyslice experience is a plus.
-
Photorealistic texture painting and lighting experience is a plus.

Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.

3D Simulation Artist – Artifex Animation Studios
Artifex Animation Studios is looking for an intermediate-level 3D simulation artist for a VFX-heavy film project. This is a contract position, beginning in mid-September 2010 and ending January 2011 (four months). Compensation to be discussed based on experience.
For the candidate to be considered, he or she must fill the following requirements:

Must be proficient with animation and simulation tools within Softimage XSI or 3D Studio Max;

Must have at least three (3) years of experience as 3D simulation artist in a production environment;
-
Must live in Montreal, or be willing to relocate on their own and be authorized to work in Canada;

Must be able to work to tight deadlines and manage stress;
-
Knowledge of the ICE module in Softimage XSI is a huge plus;
-
Ability to design and write custom scripts is a big plus;

Bilingual (French and English) is a big plus.
